Visiting Rockaway and looking more things to do? We’ve included our faves right here, everything from great grub, live music, local shops and tons more. If you know where to look, the peninsula has it all. Once you’ve had a day of beaching it, exploring the bay with a kayak or paddle board, taking in some surf lessons or better yet, a boat charter or fishing trip, there’s tons more to do in the Rockaways, just read on and we can help you find just the right vibe.

Of course you’ve got all the concessions on the boardwalk. Stop by and say hey to Maribel, at Caracas on beach 106th for the best Arepas and a frozen sangria (maybe 2, 3, or 4…), and you can’t get a better beach burger than Rippers on 86. For a variety of food stands in one spot, hit beach 97 and visit the bazaar - and remember all three concessions have a great live music schedule throughout the summer season, usually in the evenings around sunset time. It’s NYC, so you never know who you’ll find jamming out. Make sure to grab the worlds best soaps from Goldie’s before you hop under the showers to get the salt out.

Pedestrian transport to get around is the way to go! Grab a bike from Rockaway Beach Cycles or Paul Bicycle so you can move around a bit and get the most out of Rockaway. With the longest continuous boardwalk on the East Coast (no sh!t, right?!) it’s easy to get a little pooped exploring, so make sure to drink some water in between those frozens…and if you’ve had a couple think about walking the bike instead of pedaling!

Find the best sunsets and cocktails with our friends at the Bungalow Bar on the bayside - it’s the perfect way to wind down rom a day in the sun. They’ve got excellent food and the service is bar none (Did someone say oysters?). On your way there, make sure to check out the coolest little vintage shop ever and visit Erin over at Zingara. it’s the hippest curated collection around, and she’s the most fun! You’re gonna love her!

Island vibes? Get your buns to Tiki Bar on beach 67th, right underneath the A train. Amy’s not only the best hostess of Rockaway, but she’s got an amazing drink menu and great little snacks that will make you think you’ve made it to the South Pacific - it’s definitely a spot to meet some fun folks, catch live music, just an all-around good hang! Maybe jump across the street and get NYC’s best burrito from our peeps Sam and Eugene at Super Burrito. Bet you have trouble finishing it!

Rockaway’s favorite chef can be found slinging the best pizza you’ve ever had and amazing plates of local seafood at Whit’s End. You might even get a killer magic show from Cardone if he decides to make it out on his surrey…just don’t ask for a slice, pies only. You want to eat at Whit’s End, not find it :)

Right on 92nd and the boulevard you’ve got a couple great watering holes, Sayrah’s Wine Bar is a great spot to pop in for your favorite vino, and just up de road is Uma’s - amazing Central Asian cuisine that may not sound “beachy,” but trust us, it is! And if your looking for some board shorts or a bikini and maybe a rental board, look no further than Boarders and Station right there…but don’t forget to head up to 116th st and visit Rockaway Beach Surf Shop for that classic vibe.

When you want to catch one of the best views in Rockaway, you’ll have to shake a little sand off and get to the Rockaway Hotel Rooftop Bar. A ‘new’ addition to Rockaway, the hotel has got tons of amenities in and of itself, from hanging at Margie’s (go for the seafood tower!), yoga and wellness, outdoor concerts, cabanas at the pool…you’ve got to see it to believe it. Just across the street you’ve got Boardwalk Bagel on your way out, and Happy Jack’s for American food and bevs on your way back.

Later on when you’re still searching, don’t forget to visit our best bud Andrew at Tacoway Beach, right inside the Surf Club. It’s where all the hip surfer kids hang out and the tacos, well, they kick ass.
